I WROTE LIFE IN ITS RAWEST FORM and COMPANION WORKBOOK FOR YOU.
But, first of all…
WHO IS LIFE IN ITS RAWEST FORM and ITS COMPANION WORKBOOK FOR?
Youth who are at risk… teen parents… drug-and alcohol-addicted parents… family members or friends of families battling drug and/or alcohol addiction… family services counselors… educators… foster home/group home staff and administrators… mentors… youth
advocates… community outreach programs… those who work with disadvantaged youth…
WHY DID I WRITE LIFE IN ITS RAWEST FORM?
I wrote my story, LIFE IN ITS RAWEST FORM to show that it ISpossible to leave behind a disruptive, destructive, going-nowhere life… and succeed at building a good life, a better life, a great life!
Like countless others, I grew up in a home where my parents regularly abused drugs and alcohol. A home where there was physical abuse, emotional abuse… We lived in an impoverished community where this lifestyle was common.
My brother, sister, and I often didn’t have enough, or any, food to eat.
We were frequently left to look after ourselves. Sometimes, for days at a time.
We moved frequently, because there was no money to pay the rent. No money… because our parents were smoking up or drinking up what little money we did have.
My birth father went to prison not long after I was born. My stepfather and mother abused drugs and alcohol and separated many times. Tough, rough times for us all.
My brother, sister, and I were separated and sent to live in group homes or foster homes.
This was not the life I wanted for us.
Then I became a mother when I was 15 years old.
I dreamed of a better life for my son and me. And, since no one in my life could hand me a better life, I knew I had to do it on my own.
I learned how to set goals that I could achieve. Every day, I worked on them… and I succeeded in living that better life I had always dreamed of having.
I wrote my story to inspire you to help yourself — to plan for, to work for, a better life, a life you deserve to live.
That’s the story of why I wrote LIFE IN ITS RAWEST FORM.
